In the May 17 issue of the Algemeen Dagblad, @Xit is letting the numbers speak for themselves. The investment that ProRail made, placing an @Xit camera system in the town of Vlaardingen (near Rotterdam), has managed to pay itself back within only a couple of months. Before this, about €2 milion euros of damage was inflicted by vandalism on a yearly basis. After the placement of our camera system, this was reduced to near zero.

@Xit is currently deploying two mobile camera systems in the city of Nijmegen in a pedestrian tunnel underneath the railway track. The tunnel is 210 meters long and the systems will be situated in its center. On July 17, newspaper De Gelderlander wrote about this project, that's being executed by @Xit for the municipality of Nijmegen.

In their June edition, Telecom Magazine - a magazine about telecommunication and network integration - wrote a 2 page article about the mobile camera system that @Xit has deployed for ProRail in the south of the Netherlands.

In the article, Appie van de Wouw of the Operational Management department, talks about how successful the system has been in reducing vandalism and interruptions in the railway schedule.

On May 9th, newspaper Dagblad DePers published a video special called Futuristic Vlaardingen. In this segmant, they show what has been done in the city of Vlaardingen tot cut down on disturbences caused by youth. The cameras around the railway track play an important part in this. The cameras that have been deployed by @Xit, have been fitted with speakers that can be used from the central control room wirelessly.
